linkin park new vocalist revealed!

Linkin Park has made a return.

The rock group, which lost its lead vocalist Chester Bennington to suicide in 2017, has announced a fresh lineup and plans for a new album and tour.

On Thursday, they revealed that Emily Armstrong, from the band Dead Sara, will be joining as a vocalist, sharing singing duties with longtime member Mike Shinoda. Additionally, Colin Brittain, a producer and songwriter known for his work with Papa Roach, will take over as the band's drummer, replacing Rob Bourdon. Despite these changes, original members Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, Phoenix, and Shinoda are all returning.

"Rob had told us some time ago, maybe a few years now, that he wanted to step back from the band," Shinoda shared with Billboard. "We understood his decision; it was already becoming clear. He was showing up less and staying out of touch, and I know fans noticed too. ... As a friend, it was tough, but we all want him to do what makes him happiest, and of course, we wish him the best."

Linkin Park has already dropped a new single, "The Emptiness Machine," and revealed plans for a full album set to release on Nov. 15. The album, titled *From Zero*, is a nod to the band’s early days when they went by the name Xero.

In a statement, Mike Shinoda explained, "The album’s title reflects both our humble origins and the path we’re on right now."

The band is gearing up to showcase their new music on the *From Zero* World Tour, with stops planned in Los Angeles, New York, London, Seoul, and Hamburg, Germany, this month. In November, they will also perform in Bogotá, Colombia.

Linkin Park's last album of original material, *One More Light*, came out in 2017, just two months before Chester Bennington's passing. Since then, the band has focused on re-releases and a greatest hits compilation, featuring tracks like "In the End" and "What I've Done."

Four months after Bennington's death, the band paid tribute to him with a special concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, before taking an extended break.
