The Brooklyn Bowl on a chilly night in Nashville hosted the best show of the year on December 20, 2024! The Iron Maidens, ZOSO - The Ultimate Tribute to Led Zeppelin, and ZAKK SABBATH brought the heat inside and kept everyone nice and toasty....lol!!
The Maidens hit the stage running with the classic opener "Ace's High" and from there it was a journey through Maiden Timeline. Adriana Smith aka Alyssa Day, lead us into the next stop as the opening riff of "Wasted Years" blasted through the arena. The ladies sounded great and as tight as ever. They have been doing this for sometime, and I am honored to have finally get to see them. The night continue as FrontWoman Kirsten "Bruce Chickinson" Rosenburg came out in full Union Jack attire waving the flag as she belted the lytrics to "The Trooper". Nikki "Davina McMurray" Stringfield, Linda "Nikki McBUrrain" McDonald completed the band, and added to the performance of these classic tunes. Next they included "Flash of the Blade" from Powerslave album. Next, we are blasted with 2 of Maidens biggest hits, "Number of the Beast" and the set closer "Run to the Hills". Both tracks ended the night for these fine ladies of metal, and Nashville is forever thankful for the show you ladies gave us. Can't wait until Next time!
Next up is the group, ZOSO-the Ultimate Led Zeppilen Experience. We covered them a few months ago own thier on tour, which is their normal way of touring, so to see them as a opening act on thier first tour as support, was a big difference as far as the setlist goes. One of the staple songs that makes it worth seeing them live is Moby Dick, which unfortunatley was cut from the set, I am sure it had to do with time, but ti really is a showcase of drummer Bevin Davies amount of talent. Still the band delivered and outstanding setlist for the night. Kicking off with Good Times Bad Times, the band, lead by frontman, Matt Jernigan, ripped through the opning track and onto a few more tunes before slowing the pace with "What is and What should never have been". Bassist, and founding member, Adam Sandling, played the part John Paul Jones exceptionally well as the band continued into the LZ catalog. They closed out their set with the classic "Over the Hills and Far Away".
[Note** We did not have approval for Zakk Sabbath set, so here is a reveiw only with a couple phone shots from the balcony S24 Ultra]
Next up was the band everyone came to see, The MIghty Zakk Sabbath!! From the opening track playing and the guys launching into "Supernaut", followed by "Snowblind" kick the mood off right straight into overdrive, The Nashville Chapter of Beserkers was in full force for the night! There were several sing a long moments through out the night. The setlist was a treasure trove of deep cuts from the masters of metal which included cuts such as "Tomorrow Dream", "Wicked World", "Under th Sun/Everyday come and go", the 13 song set also included some heavy hitters such as "Into the Void, "Fairies wear boots", Children of the Grave", and how can anyone even think of not including 2 of the biggest crowd pleasers of the night, "Basically (Goose spotlight moment), and the closer, "WAR PIGS", which included the legendary Crowd walk that Zakk does, but tonight the walk went to the upper level at The Brooklyn Bowl as Zakk perched himself on a table and showed us all how badass of a shredder he still is!
Overall was my personal favorite show of the year!! And I saw some great shows this year!
